One of the things my father told me and my brothers and sisters at a fairly young age was that he wanted us to learn where our bread was buttered. So we would go to business functions not just to hang around, but we were expected to know who was there and why they were there. And you learn at an early age that success doesn't just happen; you have to work at it, and I think that is what you try to give your kids.
